Adge Cutler & The Wurzels

 Overseas Single Releases

So far as can be seen Adge Cutler & The Wurzels only released one single outside of the UK - Little Darlin' b/w Mother Nature Calling. The UK version of this single, released on 12th May 1972, was Adge's final single and failed to chart.

It was issued in five countries outside the UK, some as promotional items and some as full release.

No clear information has yet been found on how many countries released this record outside of the UK - either as full releases or promotional only - but evidence so far shows it was available in Holland, Canada, France, Germany and Japan. All are believed to have been released in 1972.

This example came from a radio station - Sud Radio, a privately-owned French radio station. The date is handwritten on the A side 18-7-72. A similar date stamp appears on the back of the sleeve.

The picture sleeve image is is of an American group Maurice Williams And The Zodiacs- for the full story refer to UK release page.

This example is the only known test pressing (to date) of a foreign, in this case French, Adge Cutler release. It is interesting to note the date stamped on it of 12th June 1972 which is some 5 weeks before the date on the radio station example mentioned above. The handwritten “CBS” on the label would seem to indicate that the records were pressed in France by a pressing plant for CBS rather than by CBS themselves.

Many thanks to Peter May for these images.

The matrix information in the run-off on this test disc is identical to the release shown above indicating that the same master was used for both.

Of more significance is the handwritten information in black ink - this is undoubtedly from the hand of Adge Cutler himself. Unfortunately how this came into Adge's possession and indeed how it was then passed on to someone else is not known.
