The Band Line-Up:

At the time of the recording of this single The Wurzels consisted of Tommy Banner (Accordion & Vocals), Pete Budd (Vocals, Guitar & Banjo), Sedge Moore (Bass & Vocals), Louie Gribble (Keys, Vocals & Farmyard), Lee Delamere (Drums, Vocals & Farmyard).

" Wurzel Me Up!"  Music Video:

This track was written and recorded at a time when the the music world was in turmoil over the rights and wrongs of using AI to produce 'new'  music and video by sampling voices of well known recording artists but with no recompense made to them.

In order to highlight this issue and get ahead of the game The Wurzels decided to have their own sound 'learnt' and reproduced using AI, but at the same time being in full control of the final output. The track and accompanying video consist of both AI developed sound intermixed with some new original content by the band - all produced and engineered by band member Louie Nicastro.

The AI video produced to go along with the soundtrack featured the current band but also cleverly included the band's late drummer John Morgan and the founder of 'The Wurzels' the late Adge Cutler, together with animated Wurzel LP artwork.

"Wurzel Me Up!"  - Song Lyrics

  • Wurzel me up!
    Ooh-aar
    Wurzel me up!
    Ooh-aar
    Wurzel me up!
    Ooh-aar
    Wurzel me up!
Oh oh oowhooa oh oh yeah
  • Go on there AI!
  • Diving into the roots
Of The Wurzels and their musical fruits
From Somerset's fields they rose to fame
With their scrumpy sound changing the game
Your boy Pete Budd playing chords extra large
Meet Tommy Banner leads the accordion charge
Sedge Moore on the bass keeping rhythm'n'pace
While Louie Gribbles the keys with style and grace
Let's not forget where the tempo comes
    Lee Delamere banging the drums
Keeping the beat, bringing the heat
Getting the crowd stomping their feet!
  • Wurzel me up!
    Ooh-aar
    Wurzel me up!
    Ooh-aar
    Wurzel me up!
    Ooh-aar
    Wurzel me up!
Oh oh oowhooa oh oh yeah.
  • Raise yer glass and make em clink
To the band that likes sharing a drink
With a West Country twang and a cheeky smile
We're busting it up cider style!
  • Wurzel me up!
    Ooh-aar
    Wurzel me up!
    Ooh-aar
    Wurzel me up!
    Ooh-aar
    Wurzel me up!
Oh oh oowhooa oh oh yeah.
  • As the oldest band in the land
We decided to do something grand
We thought it great, get up to date
    So we spared no expense
    Our strategy, quite aptly
    Was 'cuttin-hedge' technology
So we renamed AI - Agricultural Intelligence
  • Oh no Tom, it's gone and crashed!
Oh no Pete, what are we gonna do now?
Same thing we do with that old combine I reckon...
  • SMACK IT WITH AN HAMMER!
  • Wurzel me up!
    Ooh-aar
    Wurzel me up!
    Ooh-aar
    Wurzel me up!
    Ooh-aar
    Wurzel me up!
Oh oh oowhooa oh oh yeah.
  • Raise yer glass and make em clink
  • To the band that likes sharing a drink
With a West Country twang and a cheeky smile
We're busting it up cider style!
  • Somerset all of the way!
Drinking cider in the sun all day!
    The good times never stop!
We'll be Wurzelling till we drop!
  • I tell 'ee what though Tom, no matter what they do
You'll never beat the real thing, I'm tellin' ee!
